Mara Bloom

Mara Bloom joined the Frontotemporal Degeneration Center as a Clinical Research Coordinator in February 2023. She is working on studies investigating bvFTD. Mara graduated from Temple University in 2021 with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a B.S. in Human Development & Community Engagement. She has experience in both cognitive and cellular & molecular neuroscience research. She studied the relationship between spatial cognition and math ability at Temple’s Infant and Child Laboratory. Additionally, she completed her undergraduate independent research in the Grinspan Lab at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute where her distinction paper focused on central nervous system myelin plasticity in response to motor learning and exercise in neurodegeneration. Mara also completed a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the in the Buonanno Lab at the National Institutes of Health studying Neuregulin-2 on PV+ GABAergic interneurons which is a protein implicated in Scizophrenia. Mara is deeply interested in neurodegeneration and plans to eventually pursue a PhD in Neuropsychology.
